Challenge

In Saudi Arabia, logistics hubs are often located far from city centers and end consumers. Complex road conditions, long driving distances, and high temperatures can significantly increase delivery time and operational pressure on couriers. Traditional ground transportation for express delivery may take over one hour for routes of moderate distance.

JD Logistics sought a more efficient and scalable solution to improve delivery speed and support last-mile operations in overseas markets.

Solution

On December 26, 2025, VTFCTech supported JD Logistics by deploying its VF-36 electric VTOL fixed-wing drone for an overseas logistics flight trial.

The VF-36 combines vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capability with fixed-wing cruise efficiency, enabling flexible operations without runway infrastructure while maintaining high-speed, long-range performance. This makes it particularly suitable for logistics operations in remote or infrastructure-limited environments.

Results

• 15 km delivery completed in approximately 15 minutes

• Traditional ground delivery for the same route typically exceeds 1 hour

• Seamless human–drone collaboration, with JoyExpress couriers completing final doorstep delivery

• Successful completion of JD Logistics’ first overseas drone delivery flight

This trial demonstrated how drone-enabled logistics can significantly reduce delivery time, improve operational efficiency, and support couriers in challenging environments.
